We soon learned that life in Montagnola was not as easy as it is now. Many people went to school only till fifth grade and then devoted themselves to working for the family. The streets were not paved and cars rarely passed by. What most surprised me was Mrs. Jolanda's story. When she was young, her favorite pastime was dancing. She would sneak out of the house late at night without her parents knowing and when she came back she would take off her shoes before entering so that she would not get caught. It is interesting to compare our current society to how it was a few decades ago. Still today, young people go clubbing on weekends, but they would never imagine their grandparents do the same.Mercoledi 20 ottobre, abbiamo avuto il piacere di incontrare la signora Jolanda, la signora Fontana e la signora Bernasconi, tre abitanti di Montagnola. La signora Fontana e la signora Teresina sono nate e cresciute in Ticino. La signora Jolanda invece e' originaria del canton grigioni, ma ha vissuto la maggior parte della sua vita a Montagnola. Abbiamo incominciato l'incontro chiacchierando un po' mentre sorseggiavamo te' e biscotti per rompere il ghiaccio. Abbiamo presto imparato che la vita a Montagnola non era facile come al giorno d'oggi. Molte persone andavano a scuola solo fino alla quinta elementare e dedicavano molto tempo al lavoro con i propri familiari. Le strade non erano pavimentate e le macchine passavano raramente. Cio' che mi ha piu' sorpresa era la storia della signora Jolanda. Quando era giovane il suo passatempo preferito era ballare . Usciva di nascosto nel cuore della notte senza che i suoi lo sapessero e quando tornava si toglieva le scarpe per non farsi scoprire. E' interessante comparare la nostra societa' nel a quella di alcuni decenni fa. Ancora oggi, i giovani vanno a ballare durante il fine settimana, ma non immaginerebbero mai i propri nonni fare lo stesso.
