Let's Go Back in Time...

      In the last two weeks we met two ladies that live in Montagnola: Mrs. Fontana ans Mrs. Yolanda. They are very different from one another. Mrs. Fontana always lived in Montagnola with her family. She spent most of her life working in the fields, with animals and helping with house work. Her parents were very strict with her and they never let her go out dancing with her friends. She didn't even never ask them because she knew straightaway that they were gonna say no. She told us that Montagnola was a very small village and the streets weren't paved yet. She sometimes walked downtown to sell the products they cultivated. But other than that she never went downtown, even nowadays.

On the other hand, Mrs. Yolanda is a very energetic senior. she told us about her childhood and adolescence. She was born in Canton Grigioni, spent most of her childhood there and then she moved to Lugano. When she was a teenager, her hobby was dancing. She usually sneaked out from the house late at night when everyone was asleep and she went clubbing with her friends and when she came back home she would take off the shoes in order not to make noises. She confessed that even nowadays she would love to go dancing, but she would feel a bit shy... It was very interesting earring all of these different stories from seniors, and it's very hard for us to imagine them once they were also teenagers. I really hope to earn many more stories from other seniors or to deepen these we already heard.

   Nelle ultime due settimane abbiamo incontrato due signore che vivono a Montagnola: la signora Fontana e la signora Yolanda. Sono molto diverse l'una dall'altra. La signora Fontana ha sempre vissuto a Montagnola con la sua famiglia. Ha trascorso gran parte della sua vita la lavorare nei campi, con gli animali e ad aiutare la madre con i lavori domestici. I suoi genitori erano molto severi con lei e non la lasciavano mai uscire con i suoi amici o andare a ballare. Lei non osava nemmeno chiedere il permesso ai suoi genitori perché sapeva che avrebbero detto comunque di no e in più non sentiva neanche la necessita' e la voglia di uscire. Ci ha raccontato che Montagnola era un villaggio molto piccolo quando lei era ancora una bambina, e le strade non erano ancora asfaltate. A volte camminava fino in centro per vendere i prodotti che coltivavano nei campi. Ma a parte questo non andava mai in città, anche al giorno d'oggi, non ci va molto spesso.
D'altra parte, la signora Yolanda è una signora che sebbene gli anni aumentano e' molto "sprint", piena di vitalità. Ci ha raccontato della sua infanzia e adolescenza. E' nata nel Canton Grigioni, e ha trascorso gran parte della sua infanzia lì e poi si è trasferita a Lugano. Quando era un adolescente, il suo hobby era ballare. Ci ha svelato che a volte usciva di nascosto da casa durante notte, quando tutti dormivano e andava a ballare con i suoi amici e quando tornava a casa si toglieva sempre le scarpe per non fare rumori e rischiare di svegliare qualcuno. Ci ha confessato che anche ai giorni d'oggi le piacerebbe molto andare ancora a ballare, ma si vergognerebbe un pochino. E' stato molto interessante ascoltare tutte queste storie, soprattutto perché erano molto diverse tra di loro. è molto difficile per noi immaginare la vita di queste signori ai tempi che avevano la nostra eta'. Spero ci saranno molte altre occasioni per incontrare altri anziani e ascoltare le storie che hanno da raccontarci sulla loro vita oppure opportunità per approfondire queste che abbiamo già ascoltato per scoprire altre loro esperienze.
